Final Fantasy XIV or Black Desert and The Elder Scrolls Online have impressively proven how well large MMORPGs work on consoles in the past. The developers at Blizzard, on the other hand, never had the ambition to make the world of WoW accessible to players on Playstation and Xbox.
Although there have been rumors about this in the past, which were partly fueled by Blizzard itself through the integration of controller control, World of Warcraft is still reserved exclusively for PC players.

WoW for the Xbox?
However, this could change soon. Once again, hints have surfaced that we will soon be able to enjoy the world of Azeroth from the couch via the console. In the course of the upcoming Game Awards, Microsoft has reworked the Xbox site in a few places, which is nothing unusual in principle. However, some hints were found in the source code of the new page, which wereof course directly discussed in various threads.
WoW: Is the MMO coming to Xbox? Hint turned up in the source code (2)

Because under the date of December 9, 2021, the day on which the Game Awards are celebrated and traditionally also some announcements are made, there is suddenly an entry with the name "WorldofWarcraftCompleteEdition". Is this the announcement of such a version for that very Xbox? Many think that this is quite possible.
By the way, this is not the first time that WoW has been associated with the Xbox. Last year, WoW: Shadowlands was already classified on a Brazilian site as having a youth rating for the Xbox.
New players thanks to console?
WoW (buy now ) has lost more and more players in recent years, which is no secret. That MMOs can work well on the console is also no longer a secret. Add to that the fact that, according to the developers, everything that used to be considered untouchable is now being questioned, and it would only be logical for the developers to jump over their shadows and bring WoW out for the consoles.
This would attract a gigantic wave of potential new players - and, of course, subscribers. And the Blizzard developers have already learned and implemented how consoles work with Overwatch and Diablo.
WoW in Game Pass?
Another possibility, of course, is that Blizzard wants to integrate WoW into the Xbox Game Pass. For this, a port to the consoles would be practical, but not absolutely necessary. This would also attract many new players and generate additional revenue.
This would probably also be a lucrative business for Microsoft, because offering a WoW and WoW Classic via Game Pass should bring some new subscribers to the Xbox Game Pass.
Or is it complete nonsense?
As with all rumors, you have to be very careful here, of course. Theoretically, not even the source code snippet has to be correct, since anyone could write something like that themselves in practice.
Besides, it seems strange if Microsoft and Blizzard would announce a cooperation, just a few days after Microsoft boss Phil Spencer harshly criticized Activision boss Bobby Kotick.
But even if the rumor doesn't turn out to be true, what would you think of a WoW port for Xbox or inclusion in Game Pass? Do you think this would be a good move for the future of WoW or rather another nail in the coffin for the MMO?
