With WoW: Shadowlands, the Blizzard developers have famously expanded the system area with some new options for, for example, spell density, the FpS threshold or ray tracing shadows
. The current WoW Classic version, however, had nothing of all the modern bells and whistles until now. However, that could change with WoW (buy now 14,99 € ): Burning Crusade Classic. When the closed beta version of TBC Classic briefly appeared in the Blizzard launcher
last night, some players were able to take a look at the system options. And what did they discover there in the "Advanced" section? Of course, the various options for raytracing shadows:
- Disabled
- Medium: Ray traced shadows from ray light sources have lower resolution.
- Good: Ray traced shadows from ray and local light sources have lower resolution.
- High: Ray tracing shadows from ray and local light sources have full resolution.
These options are only usable if you have a graphics card with hardware ray tracing. Also required: Windows 10 with the May 2020 update, the latest graphics driver, and DirectX12. For all the settings, the Dataminer have of course already discovered the corresponding "Global Strings":
- NEW RT_SHADOW_QUALITYRay
Traced Shadows - NEW VIDEO_OPTIONS_RT_SHADOW_QUALITY_FAIRRay
Traced Shadows from directional light sources at reducedresolution. - NEW OPTION_TOOLTIP_RT_SHADOW_QUALITYImproves
shadow quality with ray tracing, which produces shadows with more natural softness, greatly increased precision, and from additional light sources. - NEW VIDEO_OPTIONS_RT_SHADOW_QUALITY_HIGHRay
Traced shadows from directional and local light sources at full resolution. - NEW VIDEO_OPTIONS_RT_SHADOW_QUALITY_MEDIUMRay
Traced Shadows from directional and local light sources at reduced resolution.
