He was most recently the senior creative director in charge of World of Warcraft and surprisingly left the company in April 2020 after 16 years. Now we know what the reason might have been....
Due to his long time at Blizzard and in the original team of World of Warcraft, Afrasiabi is dedicated to many allusions, items and just the NPC in Stormwind. He was also known as either Furor or Valnoth on the forums, which is why allusions with these names are also present in WoW. Likewise, details from his Everquest days can be found in Blizzard's MMORPG.
