In terms of quality, the earlier in-game cinematics of WoW are hardly comparable to the ones of today. Nevertheless, a whole series of just those video sequences are still deeply burned into the memory of all WoW players. The reason was less the sophisticated visuals than the epic content and of course the fact that such good-scenes were relatively rare at that time and were only used on really important and dramatic occasions. One such place was the Wrathgate, where our heroes first directly felt the mighty power of the Lich King in WotLK, as he beats back the storm of the combined Horde and Alliance while simultaneously raising Saurfang Junior to his will-less servant before the Forsaken fog the entire battlefield with the plague, forcing both sides to retreat.
This passage of Azeroth's history has repercussions to this day. For it is on this occasion that Bolvar falls into the clutches of the then Lich King Arthas Menethil, whose successor he will succeed after being overthrown by Horde and Alliance players.
Now, we may be in for a reunion with the Wrathgate in the near future. Because in the game files of WoW (buy now 14,99 € ) Patch 9.0.5 an entry has appeared, which is supposed to start a cinematic according to Dataminern. The entry is called "Memory of the Wrathgate" and currently launches a BfA cinematic, which is apparently a placeholder. Of course, this begs the question: Which cinematic could be presented to us here?
WoW: Will the legendary Wrathgate get a new cinematic? (1)

On the one hand, of course, it's possible that we're getting to see the original cinematic to remind us of it for some reason. In that case, though, it probably wouldn't have needed a new entry - unless we get the same cinematic in a remastered version. It's much more likely, on the other hand, that we'll be presented with a new one that might let us see the battle from a different angle or provide us with additional information.
Many speculate that it could be a memory that the dungeon master wants to take from the Runecutter and use as a weapon. This can only be the memories of Arthas Menethil or Bolvar Fordagon. One is in the Shadowlands as the reigning Lich King and the other is most likely in the Maw or Torghast. Both could give us a new perspective on what really happened back then and what role the Dungeon Master may have played in it back then.
But we won't know for sure until patch 9.0.5 hits the live servers. Or when Blizzard gives us a taste of what's to come at the upcoming BlizzConline.
