With the changes being implemented in patch 9.1.5 of WoW Shadowlands, it is once again revealed that the WoW developers are either ignoring feedback or actually don't understand their game. With the removal of media energy, the maw introduction skip, leveling above Torghast, and the free choice of pact, changes are being introduced circa ten months after Shadowlands' release that should have already been changed during beta.
Obviously, this arrogance was already evident in BfA, when player feedback was clear that the Azerite gear and boring rings were really not a good idea. But the developers fobbed players off with phrases like "you don't know what's good". What had been suspected for years was confirmed with Azerite gear and the heart of Azeroth: The developers seem to be really ignorant - or just don't play their game anymore.

And oh wonder, towards the end of the expansion, Azerite gear was reworked, it could be traded, and the cost of redistributing Azerite rings became much cheaper - just as it was suggested by the community back in beta. We are unfortunately experiencing this cycle of ignorance again in Shadowlans. Already 1 1/2 years ago content creators like Bellular and countless others in the community pointed out that pacts, media, etc. could become the "Azerite Gear 2.0".

No one could have guessed after the community pointed out the flaws of the system for almost a year....
Everyone can now see through the broken system cycle
This cycle has become so transparent that it's already a popular meme in the WoW community.
WoW: The system cycle of developer ignorance repeats itself again (1)
Source: Reddit u/n1sx
looks like reddit user n1sx visually represented as follows:
1. A new expansion is announced. This time they definitely want to listen to player feedback, I promise.
2. players already give extensive feedback during the beta on systems that may not be implemented in their form.
3. feedback is ignored by developers and promised that they know what they are doing.
4. x.1 patch fixes the first bugs of the expansion "after developers want to listen to feedback from the community. "
5. x.2 patch fixes all buggy systems that were pointed out during the beta/alpha phase of the expansion
.6. x.3 patch "fixes" the entire expansion - finally you can enjoy the expansion to the fullest.
7. back to point 1 and the start of this expansion cycle.
Patch cycles of an expansion are by now self-fulfilling prophecies, which in the end are supposed to give the impression that Blizzard has finally found a way to fix the problems and thus save the expansion. Yet the problems and their solutions are obviously planned.

This cycle leads to the fact that WoW (buy now 14,99 € )
is actually only between point 5 and 6 really fun and worth it to get back in. At some point from point 7, you can then get out again until the expansion reaches point 5. Before that, it's not worth subscribing. This can not be in the sense of Blizzard.Everyone makes mistakes and / or can badly admit that his idea was perhaps not so good. That is human and I understand that of course. In addition, perhaps the developers' vision of the expansion, which the community does not have, obscures the view of the essentials. Developers plan more or less two to three years in advance and have more background thoughts when planning new systems and therefore maybe not such a clear view.
At least that is my hope. However, the recent statement has shown that developers are still stuck in their "we-know-everything-better ignorance mode" from BfA. This is illustrated by a small side sentence in the official preview of 9.1.5.
"When it comes to the limitations on Covenant-switching, millions of players experienced Shadowlands for the first time through the lens of their Covenant of choice, and that would not have been possible had the choice carried less weight from the outset." [...] "
revisiting player feedback in that context has led us to re-evaluate our approach. "It states that"players experienced Shadowlands for the first time through the lens of their Covenant of choice, and that would not have been possible had the choice carried less weight from the outset" and "after looking at player feedback, it was concluded .. "
The first sentence is pretty much a bullshit excuse, the second sentence shows by point 4 of the expansion cycle (they supposedly react this way now because they looked at the player feedback), that this reaction of the developers has system. This makes the statement all the more unbelievable.
No, Blizzard, you didn't suddenly read the feedback. The feedback was there over a year ago in the beta and you skillfully ignored it. And spare us that first sentence that shows you can't admit mistakes. These changes are only coming now because you seem to be losing your skins.

At the same time, it's hard to imagine that the devs think they're that much better and/or don't even understand their game.
Are these bugs deliberately planned?
Legion, BfA, Shadowlands. Over five years of the same repeating "mistakes" in the system cycle. Can you actually still talk about coincidence there?

And so, content creators like Asmongold have already made assumptions that there is a system behind this, after developers with their broken patch cycles have to
act this way. A monetization plan dictated by high-ranking men in suits. These finance-only oriented employees are supposed to dictate to the developers how to artificially drag out the content of an expansion to sell more 6-month subscriptions. This already sounds a lot like a conspiracy theory, if you want to look into the topic in more detail, you can check out the article This is why the grind exists: Suit wearers determine game time - Asmongold's theory
